These are mostly thoughts, but some decisions as a result of the recent change in benefits affecting Platinum owners. 1) Bluegreen's integrity is now diminished 2) Trust of Bluegreen is now in jeopardy 3) I will no longer participate in owners update meetings 4) I can no longer recommend potential owners 5) I now have a hard time recommending Bluegreen products and services 6) I am beginning to regret my decision to buy into Bluegreen 7) What is to prevent more changes without any owner approval or input 8) In light of reduced benefits and increasing maintenance fees, I am seriously entertaining the thought of simply letting go of Bluegreen despite my mortgage being paid in full 9) I feel betrayed 10) I feel Bluegreen does not care about what I think 11) I have been deceived by the sales team since promised unlimited cancellations is now removed. Next, I guess I will find out I am no longer a Double Platinum owner and that I can no longer rent out some of my excessive points as recommended to me at multiple "owners update" meetings 12) If I were a gold or silver owner (and I was once at both levels), there is less incentive to upgrade to platinum 13 Bluegreen now needs to adjust its Core Values statements (you can find them at https://www.bluegreenvacations.com/values/)

Dear Ms. Poe, and BG Corporate, I would like to ask that BG reconsider the recent change to platinum benefits. This is the second drastic change in the last 2 years and greatly devalues the benefit of being platinum. I am one that does use more than 10 cancellations per year, but we do not rent out our points. The main reason I wanted to be platinum level is because of the unlimited cancellations. We have 4 grown children who have families and elderly parents. I want to share our BG experiences with them. Working around their schedules causes me to have to cancel often. I don't hold units and then rebook with bonus time. Please reconsider this decision that greatly devalues our premier level. Thank you for listening. Comment Bluegreen corporate has devalued my platinum ownership to approximately $225 which is the cost of 5 point protection policies.

I for one will make this pledge I will not go to another owner update. Until what was promised to us is restored I will do my best to keep people from going Platinum . Remember one wave starts as a small ripple. Let us as Platinum owners be that ripple. Comment
Why was I told by every salesman that once we hit a level no benefit could be TAKEN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Comment
One of the reasons we went Platinum was the unlimited cancellations. Now you are penalizing the many due to actions of the few. Also I have a real concern when I question how many cancellations I used in the last two years and I get this response Dear Mr. S, Thank you for contacting Bluegreen Vacations! Per your request, we have attached an excel spreadsheet which outlines your cancellations for 2014, 2015 and 2016. Please note that there were additional cancellations on your account, but they were due to our Financial Services moving those reservations from the old account to the new account due to your upgrade on 1/5/16; therefore, it appeared as though you had more cancellations than you actually did. We apologize for any confusion. After looking at the spreadsheet, I had NO cancellations in 2015, but I was informed on the phone on 2/19 that I had made 10 cancellations in 03/15! Comment
Please do not be dismayed if someone in this message thread not only indicates they are at platinum level, but also shares how many points they have. I believe the sharing of information is sincere. I also do not fault anyone who simply says they are platinum without any additional specifics. I guess my point is many, if not all of us, feel betrayed by BG, and many of us did not do anything wrong. Hopefully, with us united, we can encourage BG to re-evaluate the situation and their current solution. Comment
I would say to BG. If you want us to continue too advertise for you and getting other through references and giving name out just to get more people in trouble joining the timeshare you are nuts. The platinum members are your best source for you in many ways but this will stop at this RED LIGHT on April 1, 2016. Comment
We went through silver, gold and up to platinum in one year because we enjoy Bluegreen. But we were dismayed to have privileges taken away within a few months our last upgrade. We plan on using most of our points, and as our salesman suggested, we should rent some to cover our maintenance fees. We also have family dispersed all over the US and trying to pull us together in places, we need to book asap, and hope all of us can travel to a BG spot. When it doesn't work, we will need to cancel. We gave time to a wonderful couple who have not had a vacation since their honeymoon. We had to book two different times until he could confirm his schedule. We would never have been able to get them in otherwise, so we now have a cancellation against us because we were trying to give someone a gift. What else are you going to take away?? Comment
In addition to our more expensive "qualified" points that place us at the Platinum Level, we purchased THROUGH BLUEGREEN (Pinnacle Vacations) a "points only" package of 63,000 "unqualified" points. At that time, family had become interested in our BlueGreen travels and this purchase would now allow us to splurge on more luxurious accommodations, such as an occasional Presidential Suite, or multiple condos/suites. Also, friends who had been traveling with us to BlueGreen resorts had begun asking if we could make reservations for them. And the circle of friends expanded as stories of beautiful resorts multiplied. This was the EXACT reason that BlueGreen was promoting the new "Points Only" packages via Pinnacle...more opportunities to bring family and friends to BlueGreen resorts. More points = more reservations. We have never had a successful wait listed reservation, but the unrestricted cancellations had allowed us to make, and then tweak (or possibly cancel), reservations involving other people. Involving more people in our vacation plans creates the need to make multiple reservations for the same time frame/resorts, as well as the need to possibly modify or cancel. Now that the benefit of unlimited cancellations has been revoked, we will undoubtedly reconsider how we make reservations involving others, including cutting friends out of the BlueGreen experience. We feel like we are collateral damage in your shotgun approach to contain the mega-renters. Why don't you allow unlimited cancellations up until 60 or 90 days prior to check-in? That would allow for reservation modification and release inventory in time for others to book it. The mega-renters will simply tack the cost of Points Protection onto their rental fee and, and, now, don't need to cancel until the day of check-in. How does that free up inventory? Comment
My biggest concern is that once they start taking away our benefits it will steamroll into other benifits being taking away and we paid for those benefits. Comment
I have commented on our private FB page, but this is so important, want to comment here also. Reason I purchased so many points was for : 1. 15 month waitlist 2. unlimited cancellations 3. Free weeks I also do not like the 10 reservation rule in any one area. This was not even a "perk" that was taken away. Comment
I hope that this issue can be resolved. Unlimited cancelations was one of the main reasons I spent thousands to upgrade to platinum. Our Bluegreen ownership is not as enjoyable without sharing the experience with our friends and family. In order to book units, most of the time we have to do it 8-11 months out. Then we try to see if our family and friends schedules fit that time frame. Many times they cannot stay on that date so we either have to find someone else or cancell. This cancellation change will dramatically effects us a few more years down the road as we will be doing more of this. I was planing to continue to purchase more points as we had a plan in place. Your policy change just wiped it out the door. Needless to say we are very disappointed and hope that you will consider reversing your decision. Along with limiting us to 10 reservations to one region , you have made the platinum level not very attractive. Comment
I use most of the cancellation/modification benefits for modifications rather than cancellations. This is especially true with the free weeks benefit when I have waitlisted rooms in a blue/white season. When the reservation is confirmed, I then call to change it to a free week, so this policy immediately uses 3 of my cancellations/modifications. I have consistently cancelled reservations when necessary months in advance of the reservations. Perhaps a compromise might be unlimited cancellations before 90 days of reservation, and 10 within 90 days. This would significantly reduce the use of this benefit for changing to Bonus Time or cancelling unrented reservations at the 10 day mark. Comment
We bought this with the understanding that none of the benefits that come with being a premium member could be changed. Why is this happening? When we cancel these reservations are available for anybody in the club to use. So now they are not gone. I just don't understand your logic . Comment
The unlimited cancellations is a huge reason folks upgraded to Platinum. At the very least Bluegreen should consider increasing the 10 cancellation limit to no less than 20. When benefits are reduced, there are consequences. I am considering listing my points for sale. Comment
Why should we support you if you do not support us Comment
We wanted to take some time to share my thoughts about the change to the Platinum level cancellation policy that is due to be implemented on April 1, 2016. When we made the decision to purchase enough points to become Platinum members, the primary benefit that we were excited about was the unlimited cancellations. In fact, had the unlimited cancellations not been offered, we would not have made the purchase to go to Platinum. Having unlimited cancellations works very well for our family. If we see an opportunity for a reservation, I will make the reservation & then over the course of the next week/month see how it fits into our plans. If it is not going to work out, the cancellation is made. We do this frequently, as we also gift weeks to family, clergy & others as desired. In addition, we frequently reserve more than one unit at a resort because we love to travel with friends. Surely, you understand that when someone has enough points to be platinum (and many of the platinum owners have significantly more points than the 60,000 necessary), it allows them to make many reservations a year in order to use their points. As a result, there are also many cancellations & modifications that will result from the sheer number of reservations that a family is working with. Your sales force suggests that 7000 points is enough for a week. How about a sliding scale where 60,000 points earns 10 cancellations, and for each 7000 additional points, you allow another cancellation. If you feel the need to limit these cancellations, this is the only fair thing to do. However, let’s be clear – we remain opposed to this being limited at all since it was a benefit that was hyped to us in order to get us to upgrade. While we’ve been told that this change is to limit reservations for the “mega-renters”, in reality, it’s probably going to adversely affect the regular user much more than the renter – they will just figure out a way to get around the system. Instead, we know that the inconvenience of this new restriction will greatly affect how our family makes reservations. If you’re having problems with specific owners, Bluegreen needs to address the problems individually with them instead of making restrictive policies for everyone. Since this was represented as a benefit when we made our original purchase, at a minimum, we believe that current Platinum owners should be grand-fathered into the unlimited cancellations. We truly hope that Bluegreen will reconsider this move & return to the unlimited cancellations for the Platinum level. We didn’t invest this much money into your company to start having my Premier benefits and trust in Bluegreen eroded & reduced little by little. This feels just like the government – taking one thing after another away, after having promised it to you. We don’t like the direction this company is headed. Comment
I like Bluegreen! I love my ownership! However, I prefer my benifits to remain as promised. I do not try to sell my points or abuse the system. I upgraded for reasons other than just vacation time. I wanted the extra benifits and pay a lot in maintenance for my ownership. I want to be able to book vacation time with my 9 grands and I want to be able to change dates (due to soccer and etc) without penalty! Thank you! Comment
I believe it is wrong to change rules for one class of owners and not for all class of owners. I bought knowing that we had these benefits. Changing our benefits should be a violation of real estate laws. |
AuthorThese have been sent to Bluegreen directly. They will also be submitted as a unified group. Please show them Platinum owners ARE impacted and do not agree. We need unlimited cancellations restored. They said 93% of us don't use 10, so we don't need unlimited. Submit as many comments as you would like CLICK HERE.
