Once again you as Bluegreen decide to move the goalpost. For me the first problem first started when you increased the amount of points that were needed to pay the yearly maintenance 5 fold. Second you restrict us to 10 reservations in an area. Third you now want to reduce cancellations/modifications to 10. If you think you can erode the perks to virtually nothing and get away with it, think again. This is the final straw and Platinum owners are rebelling. As you are aware, Platinum owners spent many thousands of dollars to get to this elite position and you are now treating us with contempt. You now just expect to implement all these changes and get away without any backlash/comments. I respectfully ask you to rethink this 10 rule policy on modifications/cancellations and give us some respect for our loyalty. Thought for the day: "Without us your nothing"

So, I think I understand now why you decided to take away the Platinum owners unlimited cancellations. Yes, you are trying to create more availability, but i see now this 'availability' is not for the Bluegreen owners, but rather for the Choice Hotels Ascend Collection! It has been said that when you made the agreement to join with Choice, BG agreed to make 10% of our inventory available to Choice. And what did the Bluegreen Vacations owners get in return? The ability to transfer our BG points to Choice...at a very poor exchange rate, as well as a cost of $35...and we get to book at the 'special' price that anyone already a Choice member, AAA member or senior citizen, already gets. Oh , By the way, I have been a Choice Priveleges member longer than I have been a Bluegreen owner, and at NO cost to me! On the other hand, I have been a happy Bluegreen owner for the last 13(?) years....up until now that is...and at a cost of over $100,000 ! WOW!...i could have paid off the home I live in and bought a second one in a lovely vacation spot. Well, I didn't for a reason, but now I am beginning to rethink my ownership and the reason I was so willing to make this huge financial commitment. Come on Bluegreen, you owe your most loyal and certainly most heavily invested owners. Taking away our most valuable benefit is not how you 'Share Happiness'! Comment
We have been Bluegreen owners for 18 years and we love our Bluegreen. We have been able to travel places we wouldn't have gone otherwise. We have upgraded numerous times and we love the benefits, but we are concerned with the fact that the unlimited cancellations is the second benefit to be taken away in 2 years. We. Have been told that only 7% of Platinum members have used more than 10 cancellations per year. We to date haven't been in that group so far, but we still are upset and concerned that we are losing benefits. We were told by numerous sales reps to purchase extra points to rent out to cover higher maintenance fees, we do rent but only 2-3 weeks per year. I feel that members with unqualified points should not have been grandfathered into medal status and if there is a new level that unqualified points should not count towards that level. I also feel that in order to keep our faith and confidence in Bluegreen and your commitment to the Platinum members that we should be at the very least grandfathered in and new a Platinum owners would be affected by the rule change. Concerning Platinum Benefit Changes. The platinum update claims 8% of platinum owners routinely exceed 10 cancellations per year. We know there are approximately 6374 platinum owners. So ~510 owners are exceeding 10 cancellations per year. 5864 Owners are not. Question: Why is BG punishing all platinum owners for the sins of a few? Did BG consider grandfathering current platinum owners to allow us to keep the benefit we were promised? Did BG consider going after the owners who are responsible. Many of them are no doubt in violation of the forbidden anti-commercial use rule in the MSPOS. I am very concerned about the methodology used to arrive at the 8% figure. I have recently learned that a BG representative told another platinum owner that cancellations within the 24 hour period were used to calculate that 8%. Please verify ASAP. IF true, the figure is much lower than 8%. If the calculations are flawed, how can BG be certain there is still a need to proceed with the policy change. Comment
Please reconsider and reverse this change. One of the things we were promised for upgrading to Platinum was that we would have unlimited cancellation. I will no longer encourage friends/ family to purchase Bluegreen because promised perks are not honored. Also, I received no notice that this was being changed. As a platinum owner with 120,000 points, the new rule change will affect my ability to use my points for family and friends. I have never purchased points protection, as the unlimited cancellations was a perk when I purchased my points. The salesman shared ways to rent my points to help with MF and stated there were several websites for this purpose. I feel it is unfair to the long time owners to take away this perk, even though it is within your legal right. I will no longer "sing your praises" to potential buyers.

Who would like to go back and revisit the 10 reservation limit per region rule? And can we roll this into the fight on the new 10 cancellation rule? First and foremost I feel that if they are going to change policies that they should grandfather us in and make the change on the new owners going forward. Every time they change the rules they say it is to free up nights, to free up reservations and to fill rooms. For WHO? Does anyone believe that? Because there has been many times that I have had points (money) in my account and found open reservations that I could have booked but they wouldn't let spend my own points (money). If they really want to fill up rooms they would have made a 10 reservation limit per resort instead of by region. Because people would have made their 10 reservation their favorite resort and then be pushed / forced to use their points at the less desirable resorts in that region. But now I wont make reservations at the less desirable resorts because I dont want to use one of my 10 reservations in that region! Anyone else do that? Do free cancellation up until the 45 day window for BT so people cant cancel for free and grab ressies on BT and reuse their points to grab other ressies. I KNOW THE SALESMAN TOLD US TO DO THIS!!! 1. I think with all the years of small point owners complaining to sales that they can not get reservation for high demand times that they have limited/ devalued our ownerships to help try and help small point owners. 2. I thinks about money by making us buy PP or pay for extra cancellations. Essentially our cost of ownership just went up without even having to raise MF's. So now what are some solid solutions? please post your best suggestion, ideas and solutions for each rule. I've read some great one but have trouble going back and finding them all. Comment
There seems to be a lot of confusion about why you are changing the unlimited cancellations. Could you give me an explanation on this decision so I can better understand you reason for the changes. Comment
It seems to me that this will generate a lot of income for Bluegreen for points protection fees but will not increase availability when most with points protection will cancel on the day of check-in. No increase in availability then at all. Owners have been told in updates in the last week that a new level is coming out--diamond. Yet Wendy told me in a recent e-mail that there is no higher metal level in the works. Very sad that one or the other is not telling the truth. Comment

Your first step get rid of and punish the Sale staff that lie to all at updates then reinstall the items you are looking at. You are going to lose all platinum member who were the best advertisement and a lot of potential buyers. Think twice or even more what might happen to your BG. Maybe the board member should be looked at and get new ones that Love their BLueGreen and members. Grandfather all items in that you want to take over now it might make everyone happy. Put the TRUST BACK IN BlueGreen board. Comment
Our loyalty to Bluegreen Vacation Club is not being reciprocated. We have, over the 9 years of our membership, been wooed by sales presentations from BG competitors. Each time, we told them that we were heavily invested in BG, both financially and in loyalty. We struggled with our initial small points purchase, but learned a lot from interactions with other BG owners and kept purchasing more and more deeds until we reached PLATINUM, the "epitome" of BG benefits and privileges. We have read postings from disgruntles new owners on other websites and have responded to them, offering advice and expressing our loyalty to BG. NO MORE!!! We will no longer be your goodwill ambassadors. If you choose to make this 10 cancellation limit permanent, without grandfathering in current Platinum owners, we will be very vocal in warning potential buyers that BG does NOT REMAIN LOYAL TO ITS OWNERS. We consider unlimited calculations the most valuable benefit platinum owners have. It is the KEY reason my husband and I upgraded every time with points through your sales department. Our goal since our first BG purchase in 2011 was to reach platinum by the time we retire. We have over 10 accounts and when we have had to cancel due to family conflicts, we juggle other reservations to be sure we are using the pts that expire first. Well, we are closing on our latest BG purchase in a few weeks and I retire tomorrow. Now there is no opportunity to leverage the unlimited cancellations to meet our retirement travel needs. I have Lupus and need the flexibility to travel around my health issues. The 10 cancellation limit will make this very difficult to manage. Comment
We have been owners in the BG Vacation Club for 9 years and have come to love our BG timeshare, especially since buying up to the Platinum level. We have invited friends and family to vacation with us at a series a beautiful resorts. We have been thankful for continued improvements on the BG owners website, making the reservation process so much easier and less stressful. We have been thankful for the addition of "Future Points" to our points bank so that we could make reservations in High Red Season beyond our Anniversary Date without having to prepay our maintenance fees ways in advance. We have applauded your efforts to make the BG Vacation Club more owner-friendly. BUT you have unilaterally decided to take away a benefit that came with our Platinum purchase, namely the use of unlimited cancellations/modifications on our reservations. Platinum points provide for many reservations. As more people become involved in our reservations, the need to alter or cancel reservations that don't fit people's schedules becomes an important benefit. We usually are done with the modifications/cancellations 30 days after booking, as other people have a chance to contact us with their commitment to the vacation. To now be told that we are limited to 10 free per year, when we book 8 -9 vacations per year, usually involving multiple reservations each time, is a slap in the face. Our trust in your judgement has been crushed. We no longer believe that you are working in the best interest of your owners. It's all about following the money trail and we believe that you are planning to produce a big profit from the added fee for purchasing Points Protection. You still have time to rescind your dictate and bring back the faithful owners who purchased up to the Platinum level and pay the lion's share of annual maintenance fees. What is your call, BG Corporate? Comment
One reason for going to Platinum was the unlimited cancellations. I know that in the past we have not used 10 cancellations during a year's time, however, we have children listed on our trust that are starting to use Bluegreen more and with this use will come more times for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances. What was the purpose of going higher in points to get these extra perks, when you can take them away without even notifying us or discussing it with us? We hope Bluegreen will reconsider this cancellation change and do the right thing for Platinum owners by increasing the number of cancellations. Comment
Why are you taking away benefits from the platinum level.? We paid for these privileges & if anything we should be grandfathered in. If you think we would refer anybody else to this organization, you better live up to what you presented to to us when we purchased. We have over $100,000 invested & to be treated like this is very disturbing. Comment

The more I think about the benefits I paid tens of thousands of dollars for the more upset I become. I became Platimum because of the benefits I was promised, unlimited cancellations, free weeks, ability to waitlist ahead of the rest, free upgrades, friends and family bonus time, and more. Bluegreen's word is no good to me at this point. Bit by bit I am being stripped of my benefits. These benefits were the reasons for my upgrade to Platinum in the first place. I totally understand working things for the smaller point owners but bottom line, they didn't pay what I paid. That's why I have better benefits and options, because I paid to have them. Many owners have purchased over 60k points directly from Bluegreen; lots of money spent. I cannot and will not refer anyone to a compan Our loyalty to Bluegreen Vacation Club is not being reciprocated. Less than a month after we went to platinum level after 31 years of Bluegreen ownership, we were notified of the unlimited cancellations policy change. One of the stressed (yes, STRESSED) talking points that convinced us to move up to platinum was that we could rent out points to offset maintenance fees and, because cancellations were unlimited, we could cancel any unrented reservations with NO penalty. We have never rented our points, but the option was definitely appealing. I am so disappointed in Bluegreen for what appears to be a bait and switch maneuver. We have happily shared our Bluegreen vacations with family and friends for decades and will continue to do so, albeit with much less confidence and adoration for Bluegreen. Grandfathering in the present platinum level owners would have been the appropriate thing to do to show Bluegreen's commitment to them. I cannot begin to express how angry and disappointed I am that Bluegreen has not kept its promises to its owners. Comment
I would say to BG. If you want us to continue too advertise for you and getting other through references and giving name out just to get more people in trouble joining the timeshare you are nuts. The platinum members are your best source for you in many ways but this will stop at this RED LIGHT on April 1, 2016. |
AuthorThese have been sent to Bluegreen directly. They will also be submitted as a unified group. Please show them Platinum owners ARE impacted and do not agree. We need unlimited cancellations restored. They said 93% of us don't use 10, so we don't need unlimited. Submit as many comments as you would like CLICK HERE.
