I am very disappointed in Bluegreens decision to remove the unlimited free cancellations from the Platinum owners' benefit package. We are among a large group of Platinum owners who were 'talked into' adding a significant number of points, at a huge expense to us, by your sales team. We were told we should double the number of points we own and rent out half, thereby getting enough money to cover our maint fees. We do rent out some of our points but easily 3/4 of them are used for ourselves, our family and our friends. The limited amount of renting we do does not affect the resort availability one iota as I seldom book more than a week at any given place, at any time. And I never have more than 1 reservation per month at one place unless it is already designated for a person or group. My ability to book vacations for my family and friends WILL BE HUGELY AFFECTED by this change. ...how is anyone expected to book for 3 or 4 couple / families to vacation together without having the flexibility to add or remove a day or two one way or the other? The Bluegreen executives who made the decision to make this change to the Platinum owners' benefits have destroyed the trust and loyalty we have for our club. We are easily your best sales force, your most loyal owners and the most heavily invested by far...and this means NOTHING to you ! If you have any regard for your Platinum owners you will rescind your decision to change the unlimited free cancellations benefit immediatley.

The change from unlimited to 10 is outrageous. Your logic and numbers are flawed and therefore NOTHING will change to allow others to book more trips. You have to admit that this is nothing more than a greedy cash grab on the part of bluegreen execs. If April 1st passes and you do impose the 10 modification rule I will also make sure I tell everyone I see using bluegreen that they should look to investing into Disney vacation club BEFORE they even attempt to upgrade their BG metal status. When I talked to someone at BlueGreen to voice my dissatisfaction that our unlimited cancellations/modifications were being reduced to 10 per year and that would not impact us negatively, that train of thinking did not take into account that my wife and I are no retired yet. The possibility that we could need to use more than 10 cancellations/ modifications may need to happen when trying to book family get together's, only one of our three children are married at this time and getting all of together now is sometimes a problem. When a reservation is made for one type of unit or units and then someone can't go or needs to change when we go numerous modifications can happen. Planning can't always be pre-done sometimes you need to book first and see who can go later. In 2015/2016 we had 14 or 15 modifications just to get everyone going where we wanted to go and get everyone there. The point is some of us need more than 10 cancellations/modifications just to use what we have. Comment
We WERE happy BG owners. We bought up to Platinum status to enjoy the perks that came with our Premier Status, especially the opportunity to rework all of the reservations we had made when circumstances changed without penalty. The 24 hr window isn't long enough when you are trying to include friends and family in the reservation. Work schedules change...better units become available online...plane reservations require a different departure/arrival date...construction notices from the resort make it less desirable at that time. We are more than 60,000points into Platinum. That means a lot of reservations and the need for more flexibility in finalizing the reservation. We usually had the details worked out within 30 days and have never held reservations for prolonged periods of time unless something (as listed, above) prevented us from going. Your decision to revoke this Platinum benefit has created a mistrust for BG that is NOT GOING TO JUST BLOW OVER. BG ownership has lost its sparkle. We will no longer promote it or defend it to angry new owners. Your sales staff has sold us a timeshare built on shifting sand. BG cannot be trusted to value the owners who pay the lion share of its maintenance fees. You should have consulted with Platinum owners beforehand to consider less drastic actions. Instead, you were more interested in spreadsheets projecting a profit from sellin points insurance. Skewed data and a poorly thought out decision! Comment
I became Platinum because of their assurances of unlimited cancellations. That is the only reason I became Platinum.!!!!!! Comment
Bluegreen execs...you have done your most valuable asset, the Platinum owners, a huge disservice by eliminating the free unlimited cancellations benefit. Many of us use this benefit to arrange family vacations around groups of people who have all kids of different schedules. It is impossible to get everything right the first time we make the reservation. Our ability to adjust a day or two or to cancel because of illness etc, will be severly ahampered. If you implement this change as stated, you will lose the support of the biggest group of effective sales people you have. Please reconsider,. Comment
As a Platinum owner I have a huge concern with removing our benefits, whether you feel it effects me now or not. Many devices have been used to convince me to be a Platinum owner, most of which were not appealing at this time but made sense for retirement years when my daughters (who are deeded owners) will need more points than we need today. Cancellations are just part of the reason being Platinum, looked appealing. You have the right to make changes and I understand that but I have rights also and believe me buying more points when I get closer to retirement doesn't sound as appealing as it did. Why, because I have no idea what you will change next. I do not cancel 10 times per year but certainly liked the protection I had for later. The folks that caused you to feel the need to make a change was not me in any way, I don't rent points so I can't add the cancellation fee to make up the difference, which is all that will change by you implementing this. Does it always have to be about the money? I never would have believed it. Please don't ask me to refer people to your organization under the guise that I will get money for my MF's because I think more of my friends than to recommend them to a company that makes such a change without considering the overall damage they are doing to a very nice timeshare company. Why would you not grandfather current platinum owners? Another unexpected change was a few years ago I was told that I could convert the value of my points to a condo in Lake Lure which in turn could be sold to cash out of my investment. That branch was sold out or closed and that door quickly closed for me. I didn't know what I wanted to do when I got to retirement but it was nice to feel I had options if I didn't want to travel as much. If this company wants to remain a viable option to millennials you may want to have exit strategies so they don't feel trapped. Comment
You continue to take our benefits away. You convince people to upgrade to the premier levels. You increase the cost of maintenance fees almost yearly, increased the cost of Presidential suites for Platinum owners, you limited the number of reservations by region, and now you want to take away unlimited cancellations from Platimum owners. What's next? Seems like your Platimum owners, the ones who invested the most money into your product, are getting the bad end of the deal. Restore our benefits. Make us happy for once. Comment
I am appalled at the change being made to our Platinum ownership. How can you think of rescinding benefits that so easily enticed us to purchase more points to achieve Platinum status? You have a lot of unhappy owners right now who believe we have been given an unfair and unethical deal. Grandfather your current Platinum owners in so they can keep ALL the benefits they were promised, and make changes necessary to future Platinum owners. To think my husband and I have invested over $100,000 in your company and are getting perks taken away, rather than being rewarded for being loyal owners since 1996, If this is the way you treat your owners, I know lots of silver and gold owners who won't be buying any more points in hope of acquiring a few more benefits! Comment
We have been asking you outright (respectfully) to reinstate our unlimited cancellations/modifications. Will you please discuss with the Executive Team that the Platinum Owners want the ruling changed back? We like you are concerned about commercial abuse, the mega renters that run a business using the vacation club inventory. You know who these people are its not us Platinum Owners that may rent a few points to help with our maintenance, (with Bluegreens blessing). Comment
It's my understanding that in the past when you allowed ALL purchased points regardless of the type bought to count toward metal status and then changed that policy and you allowed those owners to Grandfather their metal benefits. If you are going to make changes to the Platinum benefits then you should allow us to Grandfather too OR make all those members with unqualified points move to their proper metal status. You are treating your owners that paid thousands of dollars very poorly! We are your biggest group of promoters and sales staff telling how great Bluegreen is. Guess what messages we will all be broadcasting now! Your new sales will suffer from this!! Comment
Sirs: As a Platinum member I understand that you executives are charged with increasing the bottom line. In the short term you may have done this. In the long term perhaps not. When you take away a perk from your most highly invested owners they will rebel. I know it is in the contract that you can do this at any time. We are your most loyal owners we constantly advertise for you and send folks to stay and listen to the sales pitch. NO MORE that stops now. I will be extremely reluctant to refer anyone purchase bluegreen memberships. I also realize that your sales department is one of the most unethical around and will say almost anything to get a sale. Not all of them but a good share are great at misinforming. We Platinum owners feel we have been lied to and punished for a few bad apples in the mix. You know who does the extreme canceling and you know how to fix that without punishing all of us. Why turn a loyal group of heavily invested owners against you when you truly dont have to? Have a Nice Day Comment
Hello, I was told because such a small percentage of platinum owners used this perk, it would not negatively impact us. Platinum owners (who never went over 10 cancellations according to you) have been submitting countless emails about all the different ways this decision DOES NEGATIVELY impact them and will not create the 36,000 additional nights you claim. We are not being answered. You were recently found guilty of falsely reporting data (foreclosures). We have found several incorrect data points regarding cancellations (how they are tallied, when they are needed, and who is getting them for free to name a few). We have bought more points than any other owner tier. We were told by your sales staff that we should buy more than we need, because we would always have free cancellations. This issue needs a lot more investigation based on the erroneous information being used to determine why this is going to create 36,000 nights AND that it won't negatively impact platinum owners. We are requesting you create a Platinum Owners Committee immediately. No one is more invested in the success of Bluegreen than we are! Let's work together on this to make our awesome vacation club even better. Best Regards, Comment
To include all modification adjustments in the 10 cancellation total is, I feel, unfair. You encourage us to use the online reservation system, but do not permit us to choose which points it draws from, or the assignment of our free weeks. Consequently, we are forced to use one of our allotted cancellations to fix this problem. The only way to fix this is with a call to customer service, which has limited hours which may not be the same as the hours I have to call. If you persist in this ill~advised change, please reprogram your online system to allow owners the flexibility we need to manage our points effectively. Comment
We have been faithful BG owners, purchasing our way up to Platinum status because of the written Charter Benefits that we were promised. We have defended BG's reputation to angry owners on many websites. We have brought family and friends to BG resorts and boasted of your timeshare program. And what is our reward? You take away one of the reasons that we became Platinum, the ability to juggle our reservations with unlimited cancellations. NOW you have lost out respect and trust, and we will be very vocal about this. Comment
Please reconsider your decision to limit Platinum owner cancellations and modifications to 10 per year. This decision will not "free up" additional inventory (for numerous reasons you are already aware of) and negatively affects ALL Platinum owners. If mega-renting is truly an issue, there are several ways to deal with it directly. Thank you, Comment
BIG mistake changing the unlimited cancellation rule for Platinum Owners! If you can not control a few owners who abuse the system and you keep changing the rules to impact the GREAT owners you do have, the few will find other ways to abuse the system. Do NOT penalize the many for the few monsters YOUR sales people have created! Comment
We use all of our qualified points for family vacations. We cancel only when necessary. The cancellation penalty will negatively impact us and limits our flexibility. Additionally, we are concerned about future negative changes to the platinum platform. We purchased with an understanding that certain benefits would given to us. These benefits are slowly being taken away. Please reconsider this last change and remember that platinum members have been loyal to Bluegreen. Platinum members deserve loyalty from Bluegreen. We are very upset about loosing our ability to cancel unlimited number of reservations. Your sales people promote the renting of reservations and the BIGGEST advantage of becoming Platinum owners is to be able to cancel unlimited reservations. We have NEVER cancelled a reservation and we hope we do not have to. However, when that is a major selling point, it should be left untouched. We have reservations booked right now for MANY different Bluegreen properties and plan to use every one of them. But, if something should arise that prevents us from taking a trip, we do not expect to have to pay for cancellations. We love our Bluegreen units for the trips we make. We will not, however, continue to refer friends to meet with salespeople of Bluegreen since the company does not hold to their word and, in fact, does the exact opposite of what the salespeople say you should do to help with payment of maintenance fees and taxes. I have had sales people tell me to book a presidential suite and a regular suite. Then call for an upgrade. When the representative says there is not a presidential suite available, cancel the one I booked and say, "There is one available, because I just cancelled one". If you do not want these things happening, then why does your sales force tell people to do them????? You all need to get on one track and not use "sales tactics" to sell points. You should go on your reputation and good service as well as the wonderful properties available as a selling point in stead of encouraging people to "cheat" to get what they want that probably is not possible anyway. I am sure, you will do what you want regarding this policy, but just know that you will have MANY Platinum owners that will quit referring people if you do. Word of mouth goes a long way for a company's reputation. Thank you for your time. Comment
I do not agree with the recent policy changes made by Bluegreen with regard to 10 cancellations Comment
I do not rent points. I give to friends and family .So I can share the happiness .The reason I became Platinum was for perks and the cancellation waiver Without them I can not do what I love to do. I will NOT buy another point from Bluegreen If this is not changed back, Comment
Letter to Wendy Poe awaiting an answer since Sunday. Hello Wendy Thank you for your e-mail and I am pleased you place significant value on my opinions and the fact you work hard to strike a balance between attractive benefits and a healthy Vacation Club. I am writing with the backing of a very large group of Platinum Owners and advising you that you have got it wrong this time. This recent change that you think will only affect a very small percentage, has in fact angered/affected a very large percentage of us. We do not believe that thousands of additional vacations will be enjoyed "especially" by us loyal Platinum Owners, for one thing we just don't have the time! We have had enough of Bluegreen slowly whittling away our benefits for the sake of others. Bluegreen have been manipulating Platinum owners privileges downwards to such an extent you are putting us under great stress and as I said before making us very angry! We like you are concerned about commercial abuse, the mega renters that run a business using the vacation club inventory. You know who these people are its not us Platinum Owners that may rent a few points to help with our maintenance, (with Bluegreens blessing). We respectfully ask you: 1) Please approach the President and CEO with our concerns. 2) Reinstate our unlimited cancellations and modifications. 3) Impose stricter rules/cancellations/modifications on the commercial users? We await your reply with interest. Kind regards Good Morning Further to your announcement of restricting Platinum owners to only 10 cancellations/modifications, I have letter from David Pontius from 2006 advising me of my elite status and my enhanced benefits package. It confirms I have “No cancellation or modification fees” Would you be so kind as to show me or advise me where it says you have the right to remove or reduce my benefits. Kind regards

Lets talk about something you understand the most. Just the Platinum owners in this group. Own more than 6,540,000. points most own more than the 60,000 needed. Most paid more than 2.00 per point But lets just use that we own over 13 million dollars of Bluegreen vacations. SO follow the money, Comment
Another Bluegreen change in plans along the way! Thank goodness I have paid thousands in MF's over the 17 years of ownership and NEVER have been late or left unpaid dues. We upgraded 8 years ago for this benefit. What next? Disturbing. Wanted to Will to children, however, they do not want it. Strictly a burden in need of repair. |
AuthorThese have been sent to Bluegreen directly. They will also be submitted as a unified group. Please show them Platinum owners ARE impacted and do not agree. We need unlimited cancellations restored. They said 93% of us don't use 10, so we don't need unlimited. Submit as many comments as you would like CLICK HERE. Let's help them see our side more clearly. ArchivesCategories |
