We worked hard to get to Platinum status, because we saw we needed a lot of cancellations. Our lives are random and chaotic. My wife has cancer, lupus, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I don't know how she'll feel when we want to travel, so we need the flexibility to cancel if something doesn't work out. We spent a lot of extra money to get there. If we want to travel, I need to find someone to watch our animals. If our animals get sick or there is a crisis, we can't leave their care to someone else (right now, there is a loose Rottweiler slaughtering flocks of sheep and goats in our area). Friends and family back out on you. You rent to a coworker who has a last minute death in the family. The location you REALLY wanted becomes available, so you want to cancel the one you settled for. The list goes on and on.

I am voicing my displeasure with the decision to limit my cancellations. I am not a mega renter. We have a big family and we use all of our points. Sometimes, things happen in life and you have to cancel at the last minute or the kids change their dates after I have made the reservation. This is taking one of the perks, that I went Platinum for and isn't fair to take from us after investing $10,000's in your program. Sincerely, Platinum Owner Comment
BG has once again downgraded the value on metal levels this is is a continuing process of the money grab that is BG. Word of mouth is a powerful tool in all forms of sales and advertising and BG gets only bad press Comment
BlueGreen believes taking away Platinum owners privileges will not affect us? What???? We pay the heftiest maintenance fees, not mentioning amount it cost to reach platinum. How can removing our perks NOT negatively affect us??? Comment
If we only had say, 40K points, we wouldn't be able to make as many reservations and certainly wouldn't be offering to include friends in our plans. However, with 123K points, we have MANY more reservations to possibly modify or cancel. Platinum ownership was an expensive purchase and demands a big chunk of $$$ in MF. We wouldn't have gone this route with a limited number of cancellations. Platinum Owners used to be respected...now BG treats us like excess baggage while they woo new owners with "No clue" as to what they are purchasing. The LIES/distortions that the sales staff uses to lure new owners are a disgrace. Salesmen promise to be their "Personal Ambassador" and then, for the time frame of the rescission period, are totally unreachable. How can BG Corporate be allowing this to happen??? We USED to be your Good will Ambassadors, members of the OWLs group, but you have lost our respect and trust by limiting the benefits that we were promised when we upgraded to Platinum Level. Our BG ownership has been seriously devalued and we will no longer advice anyone else to purchase your timeshare. Comment
I am not a Platinum owner, but I am appalled by this move of yours to take away this perk. Your sales staff dangle this as one of the great reasons to go Platinum. If Bluegreen is not going to honor these benefits over the years of ownership, why would I want to consider upgrading my ownership to a premium level? You are cutting your own foot off, because owners such as myself are going to be leery of purchasing extra charter points for increased benefits which may then just be ripped away from us as Bluegreen sees fit. These benefits/perks should at least be grandfathered in to those owners who became Platinum before April 1st. Comment
Please do not stop the free cancellation benefit. That is one of the reasons we bought the points to put us in that group. We'll be VERY disappointed if it is stopped. Comment
As a newly platinum owner I'm extremely upset with the recent announcement regarding the change in platinum owner cancellation and would like this change to be reversed. We do not rent our points! Very rarely have we cancelled and when we have its been due to family emergency. I feel the platinum level owner are being discounted and cheated out of what we originally purchased. Comment
How can you change something after you sold it? Unlimited cancelations was one of the reasons we went to platinum! Pretty crappy to take away benefits after you got our money. We would love to sell our bluegreen deeds. Comment
Please give me more cancelations than 10. One of my he major reason I bought was the unlimited cancellations. Ok you can limit but give me 20. That would be more realistic. I promise not to abuse Comment
one reason I went Platinum was the unlimited cancellations. CURRENT PLATINUM MEMBERs should BE GRANDFtherd in, at least1 corporate needs t come downIon the Mega owners who run their BG account as a business, not those who follow the rules. Comment
Do not feel that these changes will help those owners looking to upgrade to a new status. It seems to mainly be a means to an end. A new level of ownership above Platinum. I think that most of the rank and file of Platinum owners feel the same way. If a new level is created, utilize something that doesn't infringe on the current high level owners. Thanks. Comment
This just does not seem right. That we are all promised something when we buy and now it's being taken away. As a platinum owners me and my husband are very upset about this. I hope you reconsider Comment
I understand that BG doesn't want reservations tied up for extended periods. This problem could be solved by putting a date on the allowable cancellations, such as 1 month prior to check in. Comment
A few days ago I had shared my experience in an update where we purchased more points because what we were being told. 1. New program..Bluegreen would buy back your points that you were not going to be able to use. 2. Choice Privileges would be issuing Visa cards that can be used anywhere. 3. Exit program...points will be sold for us not saying we would get the $amount we purchased but as much as they can. This took place in January in Williamsburg. We met with Owner's Services yesterday while vacationing at Laurel Crest & they confirmed what you folks had said. Bluegreen does not buy points back. .no new program. Choice Privileges only issues certain vendors cards (I called Choice Privileges & was told that as well). They were very nice at Laurel Crest & said that if anyone lies just to get a sale, they are fired & this comes down from Corp. They also told us that any new benefits that come about, we would not have to upgrade, we would automatically get them. (That was a comment that I had made to this sales jerk in Williamsburg). Now that I know we were lied to, where do I go from here. I asked who at Corporate I can get in touch with. .....they referred me to Bluegreen Corporate website to get names. I have not been able to pull up any names.....was thinking about Wendy Poe Comment
Reconsider you new cancellation policy! Word of mouth can be very persuasive. Comment
I will do everything in my power to discourage and persuade people NOT to buy BG. I can not wait to get in the hot tub and pools with prospects! Comment
Bluegreen Vacations Did you consider this before you made the new rule? We EACH own 10x more Bluegreen points than your average owner. Managing the charms and challenges of 10x more points was ONLY made possible by knowing you would not charge us more or penalize us with points loss in the reasonable event that we need to make a change to our plans. You told us when you sold us- we would have unlimited cancellations and could rent reservations to offset the cost of upgrading. Our grandkids get sick. Our friends get divorced. Our nephews lose a job or have a baby. Our sons and daughters are shipped out. We need surgery. We get invited to weddings or have to attend funerals. Our kids graduate or compete in championships. It isn't about renting reservations. And it isn't about availability. This creates a bigger problem than it doesn't solve in the first place. Please don't make this enormous mistake. Kind regards Comment
Bluegreen Corporation You need to read this the disappointment/anger of this Platinum Owner. Comment We ONLY upgraded to 63,000 qualified points because it would give us unlimited cancellations and modifications. That is the only benefit of Platinum that makes upgrading worthwhile. You've downgraded the quality of your product, and the quality of your reputation with this decision. I'll be working hard to communicate this to family and friends who use our timeshare, encouraging them to NEVER attend one of your used-car-sales, high-pressure presentations which are full of lies. Maybe if you did things to maintain the quality of your product instead of deceiving and cheating your owners, you wouldn't have to lie in the presentations. Hmmm. Kind regards, Platinum Owner Comment
Bluegreen Corporation. Your letter to Platinum Owners is very specific, its in writing: This is what your sales staff are saying and of course not binding in any contract. From a newly upgraded Platinum owner.. "They didn't inform me when I upgraded that the unlimited cancellations were going away. I don't feel like we will use more than 10 but I don't appreciate the deception. We are going back this weekend and I have a meeting scheduled for Saturday with my sales rep and her supervisor." "When I spoke with my sales person today and asked specifically about the unlimited cancellations going away she told me that they are not. They have been modified so that we only get 10 cancellations per region but since there is a limit of 10 reservations anyway, it won't really matter. I asked her to please go check that with her supervisor. She did and came back to me with the same assurance. She said that if there has been a change other than that she doesn't know about it nor does her supervisor." Interesting take on the 10-limit rule..... I would sue BIG TIME if I could only have ten ressies. I have quite a few on the books. Kind regards, Platinum Comment
Does the words mean something you can fix. (Grandfather clause) would make us platinum owners and you folks to have better feelings. Or it will tell us you do not want to grow but bring in more money and take away from ALL owners. Small, medium, and large owners for greed, greed, GREED..... Comment
Dear BlueGreen; I have to start out by telling you how excited I was to finally become Platinum. Now I say, WHATEVER!!! A. I appreciate a reservation limit but at least allow me 12 which is one a month. The closest "region" is a 5 hour drive, yet I am not allowed to visit once a month. A 12-limit would be more appropriate. B. 10-cancellation limit! REALLY!!! This was one of the main reasons I upgraded to Platinum. Again, I disagree with the number. Fifteen would be appropriate if you needed to limit it. This would allow us one a month plus our three free weeks that we book online and have to call in and change to our free week certificate as we are not able to book the free weeks online. In reality, you have set our limit to 7 which is only 2 over Gold. Yes, this change only affected 3% of the owners; however, we generate roughly 30% of the revenue. I will let you know that I write on behalf of many Platinum Owners. Many of us are truly sorry we have invested tens of thousands of dollars into BG just to have our benefits stripped away. Most of us, including myself, will be not upgrade again due to this last rule change. What prevents BG from stripping away more benefits. I have heard Platinum owners say they are thinking of selling. They are aware their investment is worth pennies on their dollar. Doesn't say much for BG. I truly hope you reconsider your "10" number and think more towards the "15". A lot of Platinum owners want unlimited back, but at least consider one a month plus our 3 free weeks. I can guarantee you a number of us are looking elsewhere for vacation packages. I am aware of wording of statements and bias within data as I teach Stats & Prob classes. I question the true data. Yes, we may have "cancelled 36.000" nights, but how many of those nights were rebooked using free weeks and modifying the reservation? I know and understand how data can be presented to make it sound good. For example, a Platinum owner booked a 3-bedroom for 5 nights and modified it to a 4-night stay. Yes, BG can say it opened 10 nights of inventory; however, in reality, it only opened 2 nights (one 1-bedroom and one 2- bedroom for one night each). I am truly disappointed in BG. We have been owners for 12+ years and were excited to finally reach Platinum. We were owners before there were "metal, premier owners". Comment
I am getting annoyed at BG for selling us on benefits and them taking them away as they see fit. We should be grandfathered in as we were told would happen. New benefits should be in effect for owners joining later. BG is only devaluing the product that they sold us. If they are going to take away benefits we should be compensdated for this somehow. Reduced benefits is not what we bought. Comment
Due to your new policy which takes away from my benefits of owning BG, and your lack of willingness to reconsider, I will be sharing lots of information with all guests at the resorts I visit. They need to know what kind of company they are buying in to. To say nothing about me NEVER upgrading again. Please understand that there are many Platinum owners who feel the same. Comment

AuthorThese have been sent to Bluegreen directly. They will also be submitted as a unified group. Please show them Platinum owners ARE impacted and do not agree. We need unlimited cancellations restored. They said 93% of us don't use 10, so we don't need unlimited. Submit as many comments as you would like CLICK HERE.
