Bluegreen Corporation You are ruining so many Platinum Owners dreams of retirement after spending thousands of dollars on broken promises. This is what one owner says Comment I would rather go to 10 reservations per resort because the way it is now I will never stay at some of the Resort's because I don't want to waste one of my 10 reservation in that region. If you went to 10 reservations per Resort it would force people into using their points at some of the less desirable / popular resorts. And by people using their points it would get them out of the system so there wouldn't be an abundance for the following year fighting for very desirable dates and locations. And also it would help fulfill the suggestions and perceptions of retiring with BG that the BG sales force has created. With only 10 reservation per region it crushes the dream of retiring to warm weathered resorts in the future.

I am very dissappointerd that Bluegreen is seeking to reduce the Platinum level benefit of unlimited free cancellations. I have invested over $100,000...all qualified points bought from Bluegreen, to get to this level That was the benefit that was the most valuable to me and my wife. We have 4 adult children and 3 adult grandchildren...all who love to use our Bluegreen points. They have schedules that make it very difficult to lock in times and the unlimited free cancellations has been a wonderful benefit to help us with this. You have devalued my ownership. I do not trust you AT ALL anymore. Your most loyal and invested owners obviously mean nothing to you, Please do not tell me how many cancellations I used...that is irrelevant. All that matters is that you reverse this decision and give us back what we paid for.
I will wait to hear back from an actual employee...executive level. Do NOT send me a pre written form letter. Thank you, Platinum Owner Comment
A you are all aware we are asking BG 3 things: We respectfully ask you: 1) Please approach the President and CEO with our concerns. 2) Reinstate our unlimited cancellations and modifications. 3) Impose stricter rules/cancellations/modifications on the commercial users? Wendy Poe answered lastSundays e-mail with: Hello, Mr. Douglas. I am out of the country for business with limited access to email. I assure you I will share your feedback with our Executive Team and discuss any additional strategies we may want to consider to curb commercial use. We will continue to ask the 3 questions. Comment
We travel with my mother who is 81. Her heath could make changes necessary to our schedule. As we get older the same is true. It aslo appears that modifications to reservations are considered cancelations. We were not aware of this. We actually had to cancel a unit this week as a family member had something come up and couldn't travel. Why can't you address these issues directly with those abuising the system. Your Sales staff as reciently tried to get up to buy more points so we could rent them to pay our Maintenance Fees. Comment
Sir I have just received your letter in the UK about the 10 cancellation rule. What a load of rubbish saying it will allow more owners find and book vacations. What about us the Platinum Owners who have spent thousands of dollars over the years gaining our benefits. It’s just another way for you to make money. You limit us to 10 cancellations or even modifications and then you will charge us for any extra $50/75.00 each. 1) You have obviously worked out and projected there may 36,000 extra nights available. 2) You must have also worked out and projected how many hundreds of thousands of dollars you can make by doing nothing! Yes nothing, but annoy/anger a few thousand Platinum owners. Your actions are despicable and to think I had respect for Bluegreen thought you were better that rest. So explain, just how much have you projected you are going to make out of us? Sincerely Terry Ward Comment
Mr Maloney President & CEO Platinum Owners Group Re: Recent changes to Platinum Premium Perks Dear Bluegreen Corporate, We are such raving fans of your work. We represent individual investments of $150,000++ each and are privileged to have the honor and great fortune of calling ourselves your Platinum Elite. We LOVE OUR BLUEGREEN like no one else does, and we do it with our hard earned money, our vacation time, our generations of family, our friends, and publicly to anyone who asks by singing your praises. We come to our resorts from all over this county, year after year, in every season, to make our memories and spend time together. We come to live the dream. You have been true to us, and we have been true to you. We could never have all that our fabulous club affords us without you. We take off our hats to the success and accomplishment of all you have built, with our support and investment, we take off our hats to your ability to build the best vacation club, bar none. However, no one gets anywhere alone... Who are we? Your Platinum Premier Owners? We are the ones who tried out your club and decided it was for us. We didn't waver or diminish our commitment over time. We doubled down! We didn't complain about availability and give up on you. We didn't diversify and look at other travel clubs. We are people who through thick and thin, kept investing and re-investing in our future with you, in your future with us. We scraped and saved and financed and upgraded over the years to be able to take advantage of ALL the benefits Platinum Premier affords, ALL the perks the sales force shouts from the mountaintops, from renting reservations to cover maintenance fees to using unlimited cancellations to change plans when priority waitlisted reservations need to be changed 15 months later. It has required sacrifice on our part. We have been making it work, and we have some regrets. Planning family reunions is much harder now since the 10 per region rule. We cannot head to warmer climes for the entire winter AND plan every weekend through the summer with our grown kids and grandkids off from school. We were told we could if we had enough points, so we bought them! We were told having priority waitlist and unlimited cancellation, the only thing that limits us is the number of points we own. So we bought more! We bought the points. We paid the fees, and you changed the rules. We know it isn't easy to do what you are doing, but we want to remind you who we are. Of your 198,000 owners, we 6,375 are paying roughly 30% of the revenue generated each year in maintenance fees alone. Taking away our most valuable perk doesn't feel like you are protecting your investment in us. We are your army of ambassadors, filling your rooms with our loved ones and friends. We are raising our kids and grandkids on your beaches and ski slopes. We are celebrating our anniversaries and birthdays on your pool decks and toasting you along the way. We are the ones buying enough membership to distribute to all of them when we are long gone, so they can do the same. We represent significant lifetime commitment that spans generations. We need our unlimited cancellation waivers back. Plain and simple. The negative impact on the group that represents the least amount of overhead and brings the most amount of revenue is not sound business practice. We count on you to care for our club. We count on the status of Platinum representing the ultimate goal for every non-platinum owner. Have you considered this 10 waiver limit directly diminishes the distinction that you sold and we bought at your price? This Platinum distinction that we entrust you to protect (your fiduciary responsibility)? What incentive is left for a Gold owner to invest $75,000 and join us in the prestigious Platinum ranks? $75,000 buys a lot of $50 cancellations. This idea to limit our cancellations to create 36,000 nights will also create FAR MORE empty nights in resort villas generated through Platinum owner points protection cancellations that are not represented on the books right now. This idea alienates us- your cherished Platinum members who have put our money where our mouth is. We EACH own 10x more Bluegreen points than your average owner. Managing the charms and challenges of 10x more points was ONLY made possible by knowing you would not charge us more or penalize us with points loss in the reasonable event that we need to make a change to our plans. You told us when you sold us- we would have unlimited cancellations and could rent reservations to offset the cost of upgrading. Our grandkids get sick. Our friends get divorced. Our nephews lose a job or have a baby. Our sons and daughters are shipped out. We need surgery. We get invited to weddings or have to attend funerals. Our kids graduate or compete in championships. It isn't about renting reservations. And it isn't about availability. This creates a bigger problem than it doesn't solve in the first place. Please don't make this enormous mistake. It is the best decision to reinstate unlimited Platinum cancellations. Plain and simple. We implore you to reconsider the negative impact this change will have on availability and your Platinum Premier Owners who are here with you for the long term. We suggest a Platinum Owners Panel be created immediately to help better navigate the issues that both Platinum Ownership and Bluegreen Management struggle with. We suggest that you immediately withdraw your decision to the membership at large pending creation and consideration of a Platinum Owners Panel. We have already proven our intelligence in choosing Bluegreen. We have proven our worth with our funding. We have also proven our shared priority and deep love and loyalty to our club. No one knows our clubs better than we do. Let us contribute to the continued evolution of the mutually agreed best vacation club. Regards Comment

I have purchased all my points through Bluegreen and was excited when I reached the Platinum level, at that time, there were no restrictions on the number of times I could stay at my favorite resort or the number of cancellations that I might need. I have not used very many cancellations, but it was given to me, both verbally and written as a reward for attainting the highest level in your system. Just because I did not use this "perk" given to me, I still felt the security that it was there if needed without paying an extra fee. Please reconsider this decision or at least increase the number of cancellations given to your most loyal members. Comment
BG This owner has a very valid point. As a Platinum owner I have a huge concern with removing our benefits, whether you feel it effects me now or not. Many devices have been used to convince me to be a Platinum owner, most of which were not appealing at this time but made sense for retirement years when my daughters (who are deeded owners) will need more points than we need today. Cancellations are just part of the reason being Platinum, looked appealing. You have the right to make changes and I understand that but I have rights also and believe me buying more points when I get closer to retirement doesn't sound as appealing as it did. Why, because I have no idea what you will change next. I do not cancel 10 times per year but certainly liked the protection I had for later. The folks that caused you to feel the need to make a change was not me in any way, I don't rent points so I can't add the cancellation fee to make up the difference, which is all that will change by you implementing this. Does it always have to be about the money? I never would have believed it. Please don't ask me to refer people to your organization under the guise that I will get money for my MF's because I think more of my friends than to recommend them to a company that makes such a change without considering the overall damage they are doing to a very nice timeshare company. Why would you not grandfather current platinum owners? Another unexpected change was a few years ago I was told that I could convert the value of my points to a condo in Lake Lure which in turn could be sold to cash out of my investment. That branch was sold out or closed and that door quickly closed for me. I didn't know what I wanted to do when I got to retirement but it was nice to feel I had options if I didn't want to travel as much. If this company wants to remain a viable option to millennials you may want to have exit strategies so they don't feel trapped. Kind regards, Platinum Owner Comment
Bluegreen Vacations I saw this comment by a fellow Platinum Owner and it really sums it up: I have been keeping my finances on computer since 2000. We bought into BG in 2001. I just did a report in Quicken to see how much money we have given to BG in terms of timeshare, mortgage interest, and past maintenance fees. Take into account what we are committed to give BG in maintenance fees each year in the future, the reality has suddenly hit me. In light of BG degrading the Platinum benefits, I am feeling pretty stupid at the moment. What have I done? What is your comments on this please Bluegreen Vacations? Anyone can answer? I address you this way as this is how you like to sign your letters to Platinum Owners. Kind regards, Platinum Owner Comment
Due to your new policy which takes away from my benefits of owning BG, and your lack of willingness to reconsider, I will be sharing lots of information with all guests at the resorts I visit. They need to know what kind of company they are buying into. Please understand that there are many Platinum owners who feel the same. Your letter explains that it only affects a small amount of owners, yet you also say it will create great volumes of availability. This is just so you can say this to potential new buyers and make sales. Please reconsider either grandfathering-in the current platinum members or at least consider a more reasonable number of cancellations, such as 25-30 per year. Comment

Bluegreen so agree with this: I will do everything in my power to discourage and persuade people NOT to buy BG. I can not wait to get in the hot tub and pools with prospects! Kind regards Comment
The new rule going into effect April 1, 2016, is a big disappointment to most of us that are at the Platinum level. Please ask those making this decision to reconsider, if not unlimited, then at least increase the number to 20. Thanks Comment
So you think it is a good idea to take away benefits used to sel us points? What else are you going to do to devalue our ownership? I must say that I have told many many people that we just love the BG product. I am not so sure I can say that anymore. It is not the change in cancelation policy so much as the fact that we sere sold one thing and are not receiving the benefits promised. It is depressing. Comment
Right now I am thinking BG may not be the worst mistake I ever made, but it is definitely moving up the list! Bluegreen Corporate
How rude of you to get this wrong! Ms. Settlemire, I find it harder and harder to be excited to be part of this BG community. I do not understand why you are not able to address my concerns personally. Instead, BG is sending a pre-generated letter. In fact, there is NOT a Mr. Goodman on my deed, so I am not sure who this letter is addressed to. In my opinion, it just confirms that fact that they letters are not addressing us personally. I miss my old BG!!! Comment
I too will do this I will do everything in my power to discourage and persuade people NOT to buy BG. I can not wait to get in the hot tub and pools with prospects! Kind regards, Platinum Owner Comment
Please leave the unlimited cancellation. I am Gold member but take this away and no reason to move to platinum Comment
I love my BlueGreen, but it disappointments me when my Platinum perks are taken. The fact that we got unlimited cancellations/modifications played a big part in our going Platinum. We have a lot of points to use, and things happen in life that cause plans to change. My current main concern is the fact that my 87 year old parents need me often. My mom is not well and needs me, as she is home bound and constantly falling. My dad fell last week breaking his nose and injuring his arm. They depend on me. That's just one of many examples. Rest assured that I will put no more money into BG points, regardless of what your sales people say. They have even encouraged the purchase of more points to get to Platinum status so we could rent out some points to help offset maintenance fees. That is definitely unfair! Please reconsider! Comment
Please reverse this decision. We purchased platinum based on perks like .unlimited cancellations Comment
It is unfair to remove a benefit for Platinum owners. We have purchased thousands of dollars of points in order to have some small increase of benefits over other owners. I am very disappointed in Bluegreen's decision. If you want to remove this as a sales benefit for future platinum owners, that's a risk you take with sales, but to remove it from those of us who have already bought the points is unfair and I believe unethical. What else do you plan to remove next? Comment
Concerned about cancellation changes and changes in the future. Comment
We became platinum for the points and the perks, please don't take that away from us |
